⚡ Forever Wheaty ⚡

It’s hard for all us to imagine our lives without Casey. He touched each and every one of us in his own special way. Casey was a connector and his friendships ran deep and wide. Those of us fortunate enough to have spent time with him will always share that special bond. When blessed with his presence there was always a feeling that hit you deep inside your heart and soul.

I think we can all agree Casey was one of a kind and bigger than life. His smile. His style, in and out of the water was effortless and confident. His deep love and connection with music. Always dancing to the beat of his own drum. His wisdom and knowledge of the world and love for culture. His compassion for everyone. His mad fashion was next level. Only Casey could rock plaid pants, pink Adidas, a satin bomber jacket and his signature hat … tilted just his way. His walk and swagger could be spotted a block away. His signature whistle always got you pumped when hearing it in the line-up on an epic day. His wit and humor. His passion for surfing. Teaching kids and people from all over the world how to surf. That genuine connection he made with everyone that crossed his path. No one made you feel more loved. Even meeting someone for the first time he radiated energy that felt as if he knew them a lifetime. He had an aura about him that was angelic and powerful. Everyone was family.

His passion for life will carry on through all our beautiful memories we each share of him. The days ahead will feel empty and challenging for us all, but deep down we all know Casey will be by our side and he would want us to keep our heads up, always be positive, and love each other. God Bless ~ Scooter

We have heard friends of Casey & our community have been wondering about his sudden passing. There have been a lot of stories going around about the circumstances how he passed. As far as we know, none of them are true. We are just as much in the dark as everybody else. We won’t know for sure until the toxicology report is in and that has been delayed until October. We know Casey’s health was run down and recently had a Negative Covid test result. We know he got back on pain killers from dental surgery after six years of being clean! We also know some pharmaceutical meds, not pain killers, were found in his possession and could potentially be dangerous when taken with any opioid.
An obituary was written soon after his passing incorrectly stated that Casey previously had drug and alcohol problems. To clarify, Casey was addicted to pain killers earlier in his life. Alcohol was never something he ever did, let alone have a problem with! We know Casey had already reached out to his friend & sponsor, Rich, for help once again. Rich runs the local rehab program and helped Casey get clean 6 years ago. Unfortunately, Rich didn’t get the chance to get together with him to get him back on track.

Casey was at the top of his game personally & professionally. His businesses are doing great despite the current economic situation. He was going to get married soon and he was looking forward to becoming the stepfather to beautiful twin boys. Fate had other plans!

As soon as we find out more details, we will be sure to share with our friends & community. Meanwhile, during these challenging times, we ask that everyone please have compassion and respect for our family & closest friends while we are all navigating our grief from the loss of our son, love of our life, best friend, and brother…the Peoples Champ Casey Bauer Wheat. Thank you for all your support!

As Casey’s Father, I didn’t know what to say that would be believable, coming from me! Then I read his good friend Scott’s Tribute and saw that backing Scooter up with facts was about all I could do!!

When Casey was an infant my Aunt came over to visit and see Casey. After a while, she asked me, “Is he always like this?” I said, “Like what?” She said, “Does he ever make a fuss, scream and cry!” I said, “Yeah, he can do that.” She said, “No, I mean everyday.” I said, “No, not everyday.” Then she said, “You got LUCKY!” As time went by, I realized how right she was. He was never much of a problem, good with other kids and fine with just himself! He was a joy to be around! Life wasn’t hard for Casey, almost like he’d been here before?!

When he was about four, I went over to his Mom’s place to pick him up for a few days. As we left her boyfriend made a remark I didn’t like, but not wanting to cause any problems with my time with him. I said nothing. His Mom had always been really great about letting me get him anytime! Then we went home and I had gotten over being pissed off and wasn’t thinking about it!

Casey had been very quiet, when he said “Hey Dad.” I said “What.” Then he hesitated and said “You’re my DAD.” Just that nothing else! He understood the whole thing, exactly how I felt! Couldn’t believe it, 4 years old! Then at 5-6 years old, he met Delaney and his Family (Mom Lucy, Dad Doug, Sister Joey). They were best friends all the way through school, soccer, surfing, everything! After high school Delaney became a teacher, while Casey started partying every night!

After many years of problems between us, he finally came to me and admitted he was an addict and said he needed my help. I thought we would knock it out in a year, three years later Casey was facing a Judge that was going to give him between 8-10 years for interstate trafficking of weed. His Attorney and the head of Prosecution asked the Judge if he could leave the bench to go sit and talk to Casey for minute. They thought he would be a good candidate for the new Federal Drug Program. Naturally the Judge saw Casey’s character and gave him a chance to get through the program and avoid the 8-10!! The only reason he got that chance was the effect he had on his Attorney and the head of Prosecution, (a lady) who most people don’t get to meet. Then the Judge, who most people don’t get to talk to!!

Casey was sailing through the program. His Judge, Mr. Otis Wright, decided Casey was pulling a fast one on him because addicts most always screw up at least once! He told Casey he was going to catch him at whatever he was doing to not test dirty! Casey told Judge Wright that he already done so many fall back screw ups that he had used them all up! Eventually, his Judge decided that Casey was telling the truth and he was able to get on probation in Federal Drug Program.

Through the years Casey has gone to many drug program graduation ceremonies and continued to stay in touch with his Attorney Mr. Peterson, Judge Otis Wright, and his arresting officer! When his Judge heard that Casey had passed, he called me and said he wanted to know when Casey’s memorial would be so he could attend. I told him it would be a while and I asked Judge Wright if it would be possible if he might say a few words at his service, he replied “Anything you want!” Casey’s effect is still going Strong!

I am so very PROUD to say CASEY BAUER WHEAT is my son. I am sure a lot of you have heard the saying “he’d give the shirt off his back”, that was CASEY. He would do anything and everything he could to help that person, I’ve seen it first hand many times. I know I am his MOM but that was really true of CASEY. He is one of a kind. One kind of funny thing I would like to say, over the years Family and FRIENDS would say to us “I’ve never known anyone person that has that many BEST FRIENDS”. CASEY does have a lot of wonderful FRIENDS that will miss him very much. I do want to say one more thing, having GRAND PARENTS AND GREAT GRAND PARENTS as CASEY did was a BLESSING, and a FATHER who he loves and is his BEST FRIEND, how Great is that? I thank GOD for everyday that he gave him to us. GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND YOUR FAMILIES.

Dear to Me…is the title of a beautiful poetic love note he had written to me that I just found neatly folded in the pocket of his old notebook. I believe this is him radiating his light and sending me a message from above reminding me of how strong & deep our love means to each other. Casey Wheat is Dear to Me. He is my best friend, soulmate, the love of my life. Our connection is a Cosmic Love and worked its electromagnetic magic by connecting us back together again & again.

I moved to NYC at the end of 2004. It was an opportunity of a lifetime and a great distraction to fill a void in my life. Soon after, I lost touch with Casey, mostly on my terms serving him a big dose of tough love. He was already gone. Someone else was wearing his skin in my eyes. A few years later, not long after his first stint of rehab in Antigua….there he was less than one New York block away from my apartment in the Lower East Side. The image I was approaching was like a scene from a movie.

I was walking down Essex Street towards my apartment in the late night and I see the silhouette of 2 men standing directly in the center of the spotlight coming from a street lamp on the corner. I focused in on the dark shadow of the very tall skinny man and suddenly my stomach drops. I know this person, it’s all too familiar. The shadow of his posture, his stance, his hand gestures. Then he takes his first step and without a doubt I know that walk, his signature swagger in each step. My mind is racing during these past 5 minutes….it’s crazy for him to be standing less than one NY block away from where I live. It’s like a GPS pin for my location was dropped into his heart.

It is the electromagnetic magic we have for each other since the first day we met on the beach NST2 when we were just kids. As the two start walking away from the corner, I yelled out his name…Casey!!! My heart is pounding and I’m filled with butterflies as he turns around and immediately without hesitation says my name with only a glimmer of my shadow. We were both completely shocked & happy to be running into each other. If he hadn’t paused on that corner, we would have missed each other. The timing is the force of our Cosmic Love. Later, he told me he wasn’t surprised we’d meet again. His psychic healer during therapy sessions at the rehab had given him hope. She predicted that we would meet again in the near future…it was Kismet. The universe wanted us to be connected again to let me know he was trying to turn his life around.

No matter the time or distance between us, we both could read each other better than anyone else. It was obvious in NY the subtle nuances of our body language and expressions was still engrained in the both of us. Even when we are on the opposite ends of the phone, I always know exactly what he is up to (his besties Billy & Stoney know what I mean, 😂TEEHEE 😂). Just as Casey can always here in my voice with just a few words if I was feeling a bit off. When I am out of sorts, he always knows what to say. He had the perfect words to lift my spirits, calm my anxieties, and give me strength. Casey is the all time best life coach and my biggest cheerleader. I think those who knew him well, would agree that he has an extraordinary gift for shining his light & wisdom, especially for those in need. I am so proud of him for sharing his gift being a compassionate leader in our community. He is the coolest mentor, uncle, big bro to all the groms on NS…serving the youth and paying it forward with his sage advice is one of his passions. Casey has a radical crew of youngsters under his wings (radical in the very best way, like him) watching over them to make sure they all stay on the right path. Even some of their parents would reach out to him to seek his solid advice. Casey loves his young wild bunch as if they are his own blood. The positive impact he has in our community especially his connection with the youth warms my heart. His big heart of gold made me fall in love with him all over again. The real Casey Wheat was back, better and stronger than ever.

Casey and I could read each other’s minds and finish our sentences, as if it was ESP. Even dressing the same was a thing. Casey loved it when we showed up in accidental matching his & hers outfits. His eyes would light up with his beautiful smile and he would bend down in my ear and whisper, “Babe that’s because we are on the same wavelength,” followed by his sweet kiss. I would tease him for copying my steeze…he just loved that about us. Way way back in the day he would rock my Pink Adidas track suit head to toe with so much confidence & bravado. He was never afraid to gracefully flaunt his own individuality. One day, I took a good look at him up & down and he had his classic colorful vibe and I said to him, “You are such a Peacock 🦚.” Ever since that day, he proudly embraced his new spirit animal always flaring and fluttering his wings doing his signature dance for me. We are constantly inspiring each other and igniting our fashion sensibilities was definitely a fun part of it. Some mornings he would take longer than me to get ready making five outfit changes, no joke. I miss our fashion shows, especially his little dances, the two stepping shuffles in between each look. Believe it or not, one day I had to ask my Peacock to tone it down because he was outshining me for a party. As the perfect gentleman he is, he happily tucked away his feathers for me just that one night.

Casey could make a boring day into the best day of our lives. Every day with him is an adventure with the all the silly jokes and good laughs between us that made our days so much more special. We just have so much fun together all the time. Hands down beach days are the best days with him. Rolling up to the top, Level 3 NS, was like the Aloha King had arrived joining all of HB royalty at its finest. You can feel the love & respect from the brotherhood as soon as you reach the lot with the nonstop whistling, heckling, smack talking, yeeeewwwz that wouldn’t end until you left the lot. The only time Casey did not walk right by my side, hand in hand, was when he was going out for a surf. He would be almost halfway down to the shore as I was just dipping my toes in the sand. I could feel his stoke eager to get wet, but he was always a supreme gentleman and would wait for me to help lay my towel down & settle me in the perfect spot before he went out for his shred session. My favorite part about our beach days is seeing his beautiful energized smile when he emerged out of the water. He would always be sure to stand right over me to sprinkle me with his wet salty goodness 🥰 sending me his positive vibes every time. I am forever missing my Beachside Lover and our beach days every day until I am with him again. Babe wait for me at the gate, I can’t wait to be with you at Heaven’s Beach.

Twenty eight years later, we still have the same warm fuzzy butterfly feelings as the first day we met, only deeper this time. Casey and I are each others first loves and forever love. Our magnetic pull towards each other is undeniable. Even our best friends could always see and feel the magic between us, the real love…deep & unconditional. It was Casey who dubbed our connection a Cosmic Love. We stayed in touch for a short while after meeting in NY, but it would be over a decade before we rekindled. It took us awhile to finally get it right and I am so happy we did. There are no words to describe my pain and devastation that we didn’t get realize and fulfill our dream to grow old together, but it gives me peace to know we brought each other so much joy & happiness when we got back together. We made each other whole, the feeling of finally being complete is something so special to us. As Casey said “it is a dream come true that we are finally home in each others arms.” Our bond is stronger than ever because of the obstacles that were in our way from the past. Together in our pursuit of happiness, we give each other rhythm in life. Never skipping a beat to bring on new meaning by supporting, inspiring, and challenging each other to be our best self. I am the luckiest girl in the world to truly know his beautiful sweet brilliant soul and to be his partner in The Good Life. Casey Wheat, thank you for your Sweetest Devotion and loving me unconditionally. I adore you and I love you always & forever. My heart and soul will always belong to you. You are my happy place. I can’t let go. I’M IN!!! You know what I mean…Jelly Bean!!!

I’ll just start with there will never be another Casey Bauer Wheat! Cdub, Wheaty, Wheat Thin, No Meat on Wheat, Da Wheaty, Jose hamburger Wheat, or just Wheat Dawg. Whatever you called him…we all called him our friend, our brother, our little brother, big brother and the funny thing is there wasn’t just one or two of us that called him MY BEST FREIND. Olivia, Steve, Bonita, Scoots, Zig, Marinaa, Del, Shralpfinger, Joel Nels, Big E, Ols, Da Momo, Carron, Fish, Zach L, Kristina H, Tay Fitz , Devon, Hattie, my chick, your chick, your Dad, your Mom, (sorry to whoever I left out, I could’ve gone on forever) but as it turns out almost everybody considered him their BEST FRIEND or at the very least one of my best friends. That was what he meant to us all he was so special and made everybody he was around feel so special and important that you’d have an instant connection with him. You wanted to be around him, wanted to know what he was doing where’d he’d been because you knew he’d have a good story. Always great energy and without a doubt you’d have a good laugh and leave him with smile! If you didn’t see him for a few days, a week or awhile you’d make sure you’d go out of your way to see him or give him a call and make plans to see him. It was always a good time! You always looked forward to seeing and spending time with Wheaty! He was without a doubt the people person of all People persons! If you were lucky enough to spend any time with him you know what I’m talking about. He had style for miles! Outfits that if anyone else would try to pull off and you were a good friend you’d tell them to go home and change 😳 not only would he pull it off be he’d make it look dope like fuck yeah I wish I could pull that off he’s a G! He was the ultimate peacock 🦚 I haven’t even touched on his surfing. Which was smooth, fast and as stylish as it gets 🙌🏽 if you were in the water and he caught a wave you’d make sure to watch as much of it as you could because you knew he was going to go really fast and tear the lid off it 💪🏽 But he’d also go out of his way to help and teach and give good critique to let you know exactly what you could do to get better. Casey loved teaching kids and beginners, he was an amazing instructor and loved it. He also really loved working with the wounded warriors 🙏🏽 Was so stoked on them and how bad ass they were 👊🏽You can’t really talk about Casey without mentioning his third love….MUSIC. Which was all over the place, he loved it all! No doubt though he was a hip hop freak. Skinny white kid from HB Orange County, but he had so much swagger and soul, him and hip hop were just the perfect match. Yeah Cdub you can thank your pops for the ear for music and I know you’d be the first to admit that 🙏🏽 Takes me to his number one love, Olivia Rae Kao ❤️ A real life Romeo and Juliet kind of love. He loved her from the first day he met her to his last day with us 🙏🏽 I’m so glad that they got to reconnect and have the best times they ever had together 🙏🏽 that being said I’m really sad they didn’t get to finish their real life love story. Which I know is the only thing they both ever wanted ❤️ I miss you so much, my best friend, little brother, travel partner, confidante go to guy, roommate It will never be the same without you, but I’ll hold onto all our times and travels we had together and cherish them with everything I got 🙏🏽 Love ❤️ you pal and always will!! “IM IN!” Your big brother Webb Webb Webb Webb Webb
